Amexem Hamm Overcomes Adversity, Commits to North Central Missouri CC

 March 13, 2017

Senior Amexem Hamm has announced his commitment to pitch on scholarship at North Central Missouri CC on scholarship in fall of 2017. “I really liked what Coach Hillerman had to offer me and their fitness programs seemed really advanced.” said Hamm. “Starting at a Junior College also will give me the opportunity to keep working hard in the classroom and eventually earn an academic scholarship to go along with my baseball scholarship once I go to a four year school.”

Despite having a cumulative GPA under 2.0 heading into his Senior year, Hamm has committed himself to the classroom and now has two focuses: Baseball AND academics.

“Since joining our program in 2016, Amexem has bought into the values which the Surge program instills into players,”  said Nick Herrin, Club Director. “Over the Summer I saw Amexem’s progress with baseball and saw the work he was putting into his game, but when fall came around I made it very clear that he needed to match his baseball work ethic with his school work ethic. He took it to heart and I couldn’t be more proud of the young man that he is becoming.”

Hamm had a 3.6 GPA in the fall semester of 2016 and will be eligible to play college baseball if he is able to follow up last semester with another strong academic performance.

On the field, Amexem is a left-handed pitcher that features an 83-86 MPH Fastball with movement and a swing and miss slider. “On the mound, there’s never any question about Amexem’s stuff, but when he’s successful he’s throwing strikes early in the count and locating with his fastball,” said Alec Logue, Hamm’s 2016 Summer Coach. “Amexem has the work ethic to keep getting better with his pitching and as an organization we could not be prouder of the young man that he is becoming. We just want to see him continue with his new found passion that he has for his schoolwork and we believe that he has the character to do so.”
