 March 13, 2017

It has recently been announced that Midwest Surge Catcher Jake Wesley has been hired as the Batboy for the St. Louis Cardinals 2017 season. Wesley is a third year Midwest Surge player who has received this opportunity due to his outstanding work ethic and innovation, according to Club Director Nick Herrin.

“From the moment I met Jake, I knew he shared the same burning passion that I had for the game of baseball,” said Herrin. “I had the chance to coach him personally in 2016, and I was always impressed by the way he prepared, approached, and respected the game. I always knew this passion mixed with Jake’s superb work ethic would lead to some pretty cool opportunities, and, well, it didn’t take long for someone to notice him.”

According to Wesley, Midwest Surge had a tremendous impact on him as both a player and a person. Wesley per his MLBNLAL.com Blog: “The Midwest Surge is an incredible program that has changed my life forever, as a player and a coach. Nick Herrin has done so many things to better me in life, and was a huge help in me getting this job with the Cardinals.”

Wesley will remain with the Midwest Surge in a limited playing role due to his busy schedule, and begins his job with the Cardinals in a couple of weeks.
