Coach Nick

Nick Herrin
Club President
16U Scout Team and 14U Herrin Head Coach

Nick Herrin is the Adidas Athletics President 16U Scout and 14u Herrin Head Coach. Herrin is the Hitting Coach at Harris-Stowe State University. He also runs baseball operations within the program and also serves as a counselor for upper class-men as they consider their college baseball opportunities. As a coach, Herrin believes strongly in player accountability. He pushes for a baseball environment that is relaxed but focused on competing and improving. Herrin graduated Maryville University in 2015 with a B.A. in Strategic Communication.

Coach Alec

Alec Logue
Chief Operating Officer
15U Scout Head Coach

Logue is the co-founder of the organization. Herrin and Logue run operations for the program and make decisions regarding the direction of Adidas Athletics Baseball. Logue is the organization's primary pitching instructor.

In 2015, Logue graduated with a B.A. in Accounting from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He is also one of the Surge's top pitching instructors.

Andrew Perry

As club director Andrew Perry handles many of the day to day operations. He will be the assistant coach for the 14u Blue team this coming spring as well as being active in youth basketball.

Coach Jess

Jess LaFentres
Director, Baseball Administration
Youth Coach

LaFentres has been coaching in the St. Louis area for a long time, and at one point ran his own high school team/club called the River City Hawks. LaFentres works to help young players overcome adversity and be winners when it comes to the mental side of baseball. LaFentres believes youth baseball should be used to teach life-lesson.  These life-lessons teach young players to deal with their emotions appropriately and that player development and improvement is more important than winning. LaFentres is a retired Army Veteran, Warrant Officer.

Jacob Buffa

Jacob Buffa
Head of Player Development

After graduating from Westminster High School, Buffa took his background in baseball and Weightlifting and went on to Missouri State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science. While there, he spent time working with the MSU Strength and Conditioning Staff, until he eventually started his first athletic development program as a Junior in college. Since starting that program, he has had the opportunity to work with numerous high school, collegiate, and professional athletes, and currently serves as the Strength & Conditioning coach for Jefferson College. Buffa has a specialty in anatomy and human movement that allows him to simultaneously prioritize injury prevention and increasing strength, speed, and power.

Jon Bunyard
Head of Player Evaluation and Strength Coach

Jon has more than 12 years if High School Coaching experience.  Jon is currently a member of the High School Coaching Staff at Rockwood Summit.  Below are some of Jon's Baseball related experience and accomplishments:

  • 2017 District Champions
  • 2012 State Champions. Rockwood Summit HS/Fenton MO.
  • 3yrs (and still currently) Assistant Varsity Rockwood Summit HS/ Fenton, MO.
  • 1yr Assistant JV Coach Kickapoo HS/Springfield, MO.
  • 2yrs Assistant JV coach Lafayette HS/Wildwood, MO.
  • 6yrs Head Freshmen Coach Rockwood Summit HS/Fenton, MO.  Overall record 97-33.
  • Coached 2 professional baseball players. (Luke Voit; St. Louis Cardinals and Kyle Grana; LA Dodgers)

Chris Kappler
Director of Business Development

Chris Kappler has been a teacher and coach in the Rockwood School District for 24 years. Coach Kap has taught Science and PE. He has been coaching boys and girls soccer at Rockwood Summit High School for 24 years. Kap has coached the JV Boys and Girls JV teams for 11 years and been the Varsity coach for 13 seasons. As a Head Coach here are some of Kaps accomplishments:

  • 4 final fours, 2 with the boys and 2 with the girls.
  • Taken 3rd in 2004 with the boys
  • Won the State Championship with the boys in 2016.
  • His girls team went to back to back final fours in 2015 and 2016, finishing second both years.
  • Named the Missouri Soccer Coach of the year in 2004, 2015 and twice in 2016.
  • Named the United Soccer Coaches Midwest boys coach of the year in 2016.
  • In the fall of 2017, he was named the 2017 MSHSAA class 3 coach of the year.

Coach Kap says that his best memories are the great relationships he as build over the years. He hopes to bring some coaching experience and fill some administration duties with the Adidas Athletics.

Denton McNamee

Denton McNamee
Vice President

Denton grew up in St. Louis, MO, and attended CBC high school. He went on to attend Rockhurst University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and a Business Certificate. Next, he achieved his MBA in Management from Rockhurst University.

Denton has taken his background and education in business, and the connections he's made through baseball and focuses on giving his athletes everything they need to play at the next level.
